“Experience a camera-ready, perfectly flawless finish with our high definition, high performance foundation.” – Stila Cosmetics, Stay All Day Foundation & Concealer
The newest foundation to join the chic make up collection is the Stila Stay All Day Foundation & Concealer.
Stila was recently added to Logical Harmony’s cruelty free brand list after withdrawing from the Chinese market. Whoop Whoop! So to celebrate their new cruelty free status, I purchased my first ever Stila products.
The Stila Stay All Day Foundation & Concealer.is marketed as long wearing, with medium to full coverage and a matte finish.
It also claims to be:
- Easily blendable, helping to even skin tone, and minimize the appearance of pores, fine lines and other imperfections
- Innovative with oxygenating botanical extracts and antioxidants to help improve skin’s appearance
It retails in Australia for $63.00 at Mecca Maxima and Mecca Cosmetica and you get 30mL of foundation and then in the lid you get 3mL of concealer and a weird little brush…
Before I begin, I would like to clarify that I have purchased what now appears to be the old packaging, which is what is currently stocked in Mecca Australia. However on the Stila website it appears as though this foundation has been repackaged and no longer contains the concealer in the lid.
This product has great packaging in my opinion. When you open the bottle, you get a large spade looking device that scoops up the foundation. I don’t know why, but I think it’s a great way to get your foundation out and dot it quickly on your face. Some may not like this for hygienic reasons, I am not one of them.
The concealer in the lid is also very convenient and features a tiny little mirror (although it is ridiculously small and unusable really…).
I dot this foundation on to my cheeks and use my fingers to quickly sheer it out over my skin before going over with a buffing brush. The formula of this foundation is crazy. I can put a dot of it on my cheek and spread it across half my face. A little goes a long way. After using my buffing brush to apply it, I go over my whole face with a damp beauty sponge to make sure it has a flawless finish. By applying it with a brush you get fuller coverage, but a beauty sponge gives a more natural, flawless look. Combine the two together and BOOM! you have a winner.
The coverage is medium once it is blended into the skin, however it can be built up without any issue to full coverage. When first applied it does look dewy however it does dry down to a matte finish. The wear time of this foundation is great, with only minimal touch ups needed to my oily areas. I only use a light amount on my forehead as this is where I get most oily and I do not particularly like how it wears when I get oily as it can start to separate. It does cling to my dry patches as well so I avoid using it when I am particularly dry. Up close you can definitely tell that you have foundation on.
It is a full coverage concealer that is a shade lighter than the foundation shade. I do spot conceal blemishes with this concealer before applying the foundation as well because it has good coverage and on occasion I will use it under my eyes. However, I don’t particularly enjoy the concealer under the eyes as it is heavy and I find it does crease in my fine lines and can make my under eye area look dry.
I love the finish of this foundation. As advertised, this foundation sets to a matte finish but it should still be set lightly with powder as any oily areas can cause it to separate and look cakey. It has a long wear time and does look flawless from a distance and photographs very well. However on closer inspection, and after a few hours of wear you can see that you are wearing foundation.
THE CHIC OPINION
I have a love/semi-dislike relationship with this foundation and I’ll tell you why. The packaging is awesome in my opinion and I love that it is so buildable. Some days I find this foundation to be wonderful and look great on my skin, but some days it’s a hot mess. I don’t know what it is, especially because I don’t do anything different to make it behave differently.
I do on occasion enjoy the matte finish (I’m a dewy girl at heart though) and I love the wear time on this when it’s behaving. When I’m having a good day, it lasts all day, quite flawlessly with minimal touch ups. But it does cling to dry patches so I wouldn’t recommend it for dry skin. On a bad day it has trouble blending flawlessly and can look patchy in areas – and I haven’t figured out why!
It would be great for an evening event because it photographs so well, lasts a long time and you wouldn’t be able to tell in low lighting that you were wearing foundation.
I have found that if I wear this foundation too many consecutive days in a row, that it causes me to break out! I have never experienced this with a foundation before. So I space out the days that I wear it.
So it still isn’t as good as the Too Faced Born This Way foundation (still my holy grail, read my review here), but it can be really fabulous. I recommend reading some more reviews on it because they are very mixed! Also, before purchasing, definitely get a sample first – try before you buy!

Would I repurchase? No, not at this stage. But I will enjoy using it up! 🙂
