Review: Sand and Sky Brilliant Skin Purifying Pink Clay Mask

Does anyone else love a face mask that makes you look like an emotionless serial killer just so you can creep out your partner?

No? Just me?

What about a face mask that brightens and detoxifies your skin, boosts radiance, decreases pore size, is cruelty-free, protects against pollution damage and is pink? If you say no I have to wonder what kind of person you are because those claims are amazing…

And the brand making those claims is Australian brand Sand&Sky.

Before we get into it, I feel it is always important to know how the company markets their product, so we can give a fair review on if they have delivered on their promises. Here is what Sand&Sky have to say about the Brilliant Skin Purifying Pink Clay Mask:

DETOX: Draws out impurities, toxins and pollutants from the skin. Refines the pores* and deep cleanses the skin.
INVIGORATE: Helps to regenerate skin cells and stimulate cell production. Gently removes pigmentation clusters from the skin’s surface.*
REFINE: Tightens pores* & soothes after Detoxify + Brighten. Stimulates collagen production.
BRIGHTEN: Helps prevent free radical damage. Creates defence shield to leave skin clear and glowing.*

This mask retails for $69.99 on the ASOS website or $111.92 for two on the Sand&Sky website (20% besties discount). It comes in a luxurious glass jar with an applicator brush. It is recommended that if you have oily skin to combination skin use the mask 2 to 3 times a week for best results. For dry or sensitive skin, use up to 2 times per week. Sand&Sky is 100% Australian owned and their mask is manufactured in Australia. The mask is also gluten-free, cruelty-free and vegan!

The Chic Opinion

The mask is a very thick, pink creamy paste that spreads easily on to the skin with the brush. I alternate applying it all over my face, with applying it only in my oily areas – my forehead, t-zone, and chin. The addition of the applicator brush was perfect as well because I prefer to apply all my face masks with a brush.

You certainly feel a tingling sensation initially. At first, I was a little nervous that it might be aggravating my skin but it wasn’t. It just has active ingredients and this sensation is to be expected. It dries relatively quickly, setting your face into that creepy, frozen look that all clay masks give. My husband finds this to be the best time to try make me laugh, which causes me no end of pain as the masks cracks with every movement. The mask only needs to stay on for 10 minutes and then it’s time to wash it off!

Once I take it off, my skin is noticeably brighter and more radiant. I have also noticed over time that my pores have become less clogged and my skin is generally clearer and more vibrant.

At $70 this mask is not cheap (in my opinion), however, I do believe it lives up to everything that it claims to do. My skin is clean, clear and radiant and even my friends and family who have tried it experienced the same thing. The best thing about this mask is that it is a great, quick pick-me-up for your skin, especially if you’re looking a bit dull and dreary. I have a feeling I’m going to be detoxifying and brightening my skin with this one for months to come and will certainly look at repurchasing it for myself when my current supply runs out.

  1. My skin has changed since chemo it is full and my color of my skin has changed also. I am having a horrible time with a new regime for my skin. Do you think this will help bring back my glow ….i am over 50…i need help I miss my beautiful skin. My name is Deborah Ryan my email is Mizryan99@gmail.com….would this be my solution…..

    1. Hi Deborah, I am so sorry to hear about your health troubles 🙁 I hope that you are on the mend to a full recovery. I certainly believe that this mask helps with brightening the skin, amongst other things, so it could certainly be worth giving a shot. I use mine twice a week (at least) and have noticed a difference in my own skin. Additionally I personally find Drunk Elephant range (especially the T.L.C Glycolic Night Serum) great for resurfacing the skin and increasing radiance. Perhaps talk with an aesthetician to get the best advice as I can only speak for my personal experience. I hope this has helped and I wish you all the best for the future. xxx

  2. Just ordered this mask and only paid 52$! They were doing 20% off, and I’m so excited to try it. Glad I found your review.

  3. Thanks for taking the time to write a review on this new facial fad! How long do the results last for you? I’ve seen in videos that the mask has some pretty dramatic results right away, but do they last more than a couple hours?

    1. I use this mask at least twice a week so I have certainly noticed the results lasting for me. My pores are definitely clearer and less noticeable and breakouts are less frequent. I think with any mask that gives results, routinely using it is what ensures benefits to the skin last longer than a short period of time 🙂

I would love to hear your comments, questions and feedback! xx
