That damn Sephora checkout gets me every time… I was waiting in line to purchase a couple of items when I saw the Tarte Tarteist Lip Wardrobe Duo (travel size set) in shades that screamed “Buy me! Buy me!”. So naturally I did…
Unbeknownst to me at the time it is actually a limited edition release so you may not be able to get it in store any more. But these shades are both available in full size anyway.
In the pack you get the two mini Tarte lip products. A Creamy Matte Lip Paint in a pale nude shade called Namaste, and a Glossy Lip Paint in the deep rich shade WCW (Berry). Both are cruelty free, gluten free and vegan!
Let’s break this review down into two parts starting with Namaste.
Claim: Paint on pigment to create a tarteist™ lip masterpiece with this ultra-pigmented, full coverage, longwearing liquid lipstick with a lightweight, moussey texture and a non-drying, velvet matte finish.
The felt tip applicator is awesome and makes for precision application to easily line the lips, before filling them in using the flat side of the brush.
The formula is very comfortable and non-drying on the lips.
As there is a velvety matte finish, you will experience some transfer.
The colour payoff is huge. A little goes a long way for full coverage.
It has a deliciously light peppermint scent.
The colour is a lovely dusty rose nude when dry, and against a more tan complexion, it can look very baby pink when I’m my alternative paler self.
Once dry, it does accentuate the lines on the lips, which gives the appearance that your lips are drier than they are.
It stays well put , however it fades very unappealingly, leaving a much lighter pink line on the inside of the lips (ew).
A full size version costs $29.00AUD. The small deluxe size is perfect however for carrying in your tiny purses and bags 😉
Honestly, whilst I do love most things about this lip paint – the perfect nude colour, packaging and scent, I am constantly worrying about how it is fading as it fades so poorly on me. I would recommend as light of an application as possible for the best wear/fade of this product. And whilst I do enjoy most aspects of it, not being able to relax whilst wearing it makes me hesitant to recommend it highly over other brands that offer similar shades with better wear and fade times.
Claim: A vegan friendly, pigmented, glossy lip paint for sexy colour and shine.
This gloss packs a lot of colour, like it claims. It is super pigmented.
Whilst other reviews say that it applied streaky, I did not find this. I found that the formula applied very well and very easily.
The felt tip applicator makes for precision application to easily line the lips, before filling them in using the flat side of the brush.
As you expect with a gloss, it does transfer. However it does leave a stain on the lips.
It is a great gloss for a low key way to wear a comfortable bold lip.
It is also a great gloss to apply over liquid lipsticks or any lipstick really for extra depth and longevity. I often wear it over Jeffreestar’s Unicorn Blood.
The gloss it not sticky or uncomfortable to wear at all.
Unlike the Creamy Matte Lip Paint, I would definitely recommend this Glossy Lip Paint! It’s just so great on its own, or on top of another lipstick. I would really like to try other shades from this gloss range as I love the colour, wear and application of this shade. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves a great berry gloss!
