Review: Soak Society Bath Salts

I don’t particularly like bath salts. There, I said it.

I have never found any bath salts that I actually like. And that is the honest to god truth.

My experience with bath salts in the past has been drying and underwhelming. I also strongly dislike any bath ‘floaties’ – ie flower petals, or anything else that sticks to my skin and refuses to go down the drain. I much rather bubble bath or bath oils – Anything that smells really good, leaves my skin soft and does not block my drain.

When Soak Society (a certified cruelty-free Aussie company that makes beautiful ‘wellness soaks’ from the highest quality natural and organic ingredients) reached out to me to review their products, I was nervous for them… But I was curious to see if I would finally find some bath salts that I liked and I loved their philosophy of #hustlesoakrepeat – a mindset that centres around looking after your #girlboss self by taking the time to unwind.

For this review I have put in the hard yards. I have spent many hours soaking in my tub, relaxing, and here is what I have found…

The packaging is simple and sleek. I find the matte and gloss black bags with the muted coloured label incredibly chic. They are a great product to display in the bathroom. The only downside is that is plastic packaging…like so many things.

These soaks come in 2 sizes – a full size (250g) or travel size (100g) pack (about 2 soaks worth). I love that they have a travel size one as I always enjoy a long bath after a flight but hate travelling with any unnecessary weight.

Soak Society has 5 different soaks and I have tried them all.

My most favourite of them all is definitely the Originale wellness soak…

Originale combines the freshness of peppermint with the cleansing qualities of rosemary, the calming and anti-inflammatory properties of juniper berry, and zesty bergamot to promote detoxification and soothe your soul. The smell is so minty fresh, perfect if you don’t like overly feminine scented baths.

This soak blew my mind. Firstly, it doesn’t have any ‘floaties’ in it, which I was grateful for because the scent is stunning. It is so refreshing and invigorating for the mind, yet at the same time it completely relaxes you. It didn’t leave my skin feeling dry either and my bath did not require any cleaning afterwards. Big thumbs up for this soak, it’s probably my most favorite soak of all time.

Rose combines the most luxurious of rose petals and rose oils to enchant your senses and tone skin imperfections, active Pink Kaolin clay, and Himalayan pink salts that will soften and smooth your skin and promote detoxification. Take some me-time to indulge and feel like a queen floating in your pink bath full of petals!

The rose soak is definitely my next favourite. I love the scent of roses so much and this soak has such a beautiful rose scent. Not only that, the clay and pink salts really leave your skin feeling very soft. Too bad about the rose petals (for me), although I’m sure most normal people enjoy the luxury of being surrounded by petals, sadly I am not one of them. I am happy to overlook this as the bath smells so good and I love the pink water – it makes me feel a little bit extra…

Sleep combines lavender and chamomile to calm your busy mind, oatmeal to moisturise, and white clay to soften skin. Soak right before bed to prepare you for a peaceful slumber.

I really enjoyed this soak but did find that I would use more crystals in the bath than with any of the other soaks as the scent seems to fade quicker, or perhaps it’s just more subtle than the others but it’s lovely once you add more. Yes, I hate the lavender petals in it, just like I did the rose petals. But I love the way my skin feels after this soak…

Long Summer days spent swimming in crystal blue waters, the scent of jasmine and lemon myrtle in the air, the lime in our refreshing sparkling water, our hair and skin crisp with sea salt, this is an ode to our hometown.

Another refreshing soak just like the Originale soak but with the presence of jasmine flowers. It is only due to my undying love of rose and lavender that this one is number 4 in my list as it has a stunning scent. The lemon myrtle is intoxicating and this soak would be perfect during the summer months or when one is yearning for warmer days. And surprisingly, the jasmine flowers bother me the least out of the rose petals and lavender…I don’t know why…

陰陽 yīnyang

陰陽 yīnyang combines the opposite forces of dark and light to bring balance to your life. Activated charcoal and zesty pink grapefruit encourage detoxification and circulation, with white clay and the sweetness of neroli and vanilla to calm and soothe.

Not my favourite soak. The scent didn’t capture me like the others did and the charcoal left a dark film in the tub afterwards which was annoying because my first instinct was to clean it – thus ruining that relaxed feeling I had achieved.

Overall these bath soaks really impressed me. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy them as much as I did and I love that they left my skin feeling soft and not dry. I did find that I would use more than the recommended amount to increase the scent because that’s what I am really after when using scented bath products. And whilst I don’t think they’ll replace my love of bubble bath and other bath oils, I can’t fault these and would recommend them to anyone who loves bath salts.

Also, all soaks are 100% vegan – which is tops.
