Dewy & Bae is an Australian brand based in Melbourne that has recently launched their first product, the RAW GLOW Nourishing Face Serum. According to the brand, it is the first facial serum to contain plant origin Chlorophyll – which is why it is that beautiful green shade. I have been using this oil every day now for about 3 months to see what effect (if any) it has on my skin and if it indeed performs as advertised.
Before we get into it, I feel it is always important to know how the company markets their product, so we can give a fair review on if they have delivered on their promises. Here is what Dewy & Bae have to say about the cruelty-free and vegan RAW GLOW Nourishing Face Serum:
A lush blend of humectant oils, vitamins and antioxidants to rebalance oily, dry or flaking, combo and sensitive skin types. RAW GLOW is formulated to:
Be a 4 in 1 treatment to rebalance the skin in 7 days

*Disclaimer – the following photos have been taken shortly after I rolled out of bed, which won’t surprise you when you see them. All I’ve done is wash my face as per normal in preparation for the oil. I have not done my eyebrows and looking back, I really wish I had…Why can’t they match on their own? I mean HONESTLY!
The oil retails at $60AUD for 30 ml / 1.0 fl oz, which is a pretty penny but not unusual for a serum. Its key ingredient is Chlorophyll derived from Alfalfa, which is full of vitamins and antioxidants and when used topically, it is a powerful blemish banisher and wound healer. – And I did look up a few scientific studies which did seem to confirm that chlorophyll does have wound healing properties.
How to Use
The oil is advertised to be used morning and night, as well as using it as a primer. I prefer using it in the morning after washing my face with water as I like marula oil at night at the moment. I put 3 drops into the palm of my hands and rub them together until it has warmed up before pressing all over my face. Originally I would let this sit for a few minutes before proceeding with the rest of my makeup routine but now I use my Jade Facial Roller to massage it into my skin (it’s amazing!). As a side note, if you don’t follow me on instagram already, you should, as I often put up my morning beauty routine which includes using this oil – as well as some other great products. I also give quick reviews on products I’ve tried as well. Check it out – @chicidentity
My Skin Situation
My skin bounces from being oily to dry, it really depends on the weather, my diet and stress levels and what I’m up to – but I normally get oily in my t-zone and chin throughout the day. I also have large pores on my cheeks and forehead (which is just great) as well as fine lines on my forehead and under my eyes.
The Chic Opinion
After continued use of this oil I have deduced the following – it lives up to the claims!
I really love the glow it gives my skin the morning! It sinks into my skin without looking oily or greasy, just dewy and luminous and leaves my skin looking plump and fresh like advertised. I was surprised (and relieved) to find that it did not promote or encourage increased oil production throughout the day, or make my face look like an oil slick by the end of the day. In fact, it seems to control the oil in my t-zone somewhat. I’m not saying I didn’t get oily when I used it, and it’s certainly not a mattifying product, but I didn’t get AS oily as I normally would without it.
After a few days of continuous use of the oil (both morning and night), I did start noticing that my complexion appeared a lot more radiant and hydrated. Even though I am oily, areas of my skin normally look dehydrated, especially my forehead. But this has changed. Also, it’s not clogging my pores or increasing oil production, nor did it result in any breakouts.
Overall, I love this serum. I really believe it has added a youthfulness and radiance to my skin that I didn’t realise was lacking. It is expensive so whilst I would recommend it to anyone who was looking for a serum like this, don’t break your budget!
Would I buy this serum again? Absolutely. And if you want to get your hands on it, just click here.
