The Meet Matt(e) Nude eyeshadow palette is the first product that I purchased from theBalm. I have had it now for about 3 months now and I am reaching for it almost daily. In fact the look that I created for TCI’s promo images (below) was done using only these shadows! It’s my go to natural ‘butIusedallthemakeupintheworldtogetthislook’ look.
The palette consists of 9 neutral matte eyeshadows in a variety of cool and warm shades (see below for swatches) each named after a different Matt (very charming). The shadows are very pigmented and they blend very well. Be careful with them though, build them up slowly. Don’t do what I did first go and pile it on willy nilly. It got a bit hard to blend out that way!
There’s a large mirror in the palette and the shadows are very pigmented and blendable. On a low-key makeup day I have been tossing the shade ‘Matt Singh’ in my crease (that sounds dirtier than I meant it to be!). It’s a lovely, warm transition shade. I have been doing a deep, bold smoky eye with the shades ‘Matt Garcia’ and ‘Matt Rosen’. The pic on the left is using those two shades but with a daytime look. Those are the 3 shades I reach for most often because they live within my comfort zone.
I picked this palette up on sale from the Australian chain David Jones. I can’t recall the sale price exactly, however it does retail for around $40.00 in Australia, which makes each shadow almost $4.50 each. I think that’s pretty good, as long as you’re happy with all or most of the shades.
The massive mirror in the inside is a huge win too, especially if you’re travelling. I certainly think that this is a good starter palette to own if you don’t have many matte shades in your collection, although I still think you will need some other shades/tones to bulk up your options as the palette holds very similar colours…I just wish it had an orangey matte shadow instead of the grey toned shadows.
If you have this palette, let me know what you think of it!
