The Christmas holidays are well and truly over and my daily routine has returned – get up early, catch the tram to the train, the train to work, order a delicious large flat white, spend 40 odd minutes writing in the cafe before taking my butt up to my job that actually pays me for my time lol.
So where am I now in 2018?
Well, right now I am writing to you from the cafe that I frequent every morning before work and the lovely Italian owner, Bruno, has just placed my favourite morning beverage in front of me – a large flat white. This is the favourite part of my day during the working week. This is the time that I get to work on the challenges that I have set for my self, solve the problems that I have created on purpose, and focus my attention on things that really matter to me.
This year I really want to connect more with you all, share a little more of myself in a more informal way by giving you small recaps of my week and a look at what I’ve been doing behind the scenes and what I am working on/learning/etc.
So here is the latest from my world…
Yep, on the 1st of January, I disabled my Facebook account. I’ve been thinking about doing it on and off for years. Whilst I love keeping up to date with what my friends and family are up to, I was finding that I would lose so much valuable time scrolling through my feed without gaining any value back in return (reading the comments section on posts was my weakness). As I have made plans for 2018 to be my biggest and best year yet, I realised that I really had to start making some changes to my habits that were not contributing to my success. Initially, I found I kept absentmindedly going to open the app on my phone and finding it was no longer there. But now I don’t think about it at all! So my experiment is going so far so good!
What am I doing with all my free time now that I don’t have Facebook you ask? I am all about Bloglovin‘. I don’t tend to read the news anymore, and I certainly don’t watch it, but I do love to keep up to date with my favourite blogs. I have had the Bloglovin’ app on my phone for about 6 months now and would get on it every now and again, but over the Christmas break I finally got around to following all my favourite blogs (and finding some great new ones). So now I not only keep up to date with their great posts, but seeing my favorite bloggers constantly killing the game with their consistency and creativity inspires me to keep pushing ahead with my blog goals.
Goals have been set
Always on the path to better myself, I have decided to step it up a notch by setting some new positive habit-developing goals, one of which includes reading 1 book a month (current goal, but interested to see if I can fit more in as I get back into the habit of reading as I am flying through my current read ‘The subtle art of not giving a f*ck’ by Mark Manson). Reading was always such a favorite past time of mine as a teenager but I have fallen out of the habit over the last decade (yes I’m that old). Since turning 30 in 2017 I have really come to realise that everything I want in life is achievable BUT only if I put in the effort, make the sacrifices and never give up, So in order to get where I want to go and be who I want to be, I am here to learn and grow as much as I can.
So that is my new year in a tiny nutshell, and if you haven’t already done so, get the Bloglovin’ app on your phone now and follow Thechicidentity.com to stay up to date with all the latest posts (or you can subscribe to the mailing list just below).
Has anyone else quit Facebook for 2018?
